Exploring life for the Anglo-Saxons through a digital archive.
Our story
In 2023, a group of several graduate students from the SSHRC PG Environments of Change Project travelled to North Yorkshire, UK, where they supported Dr. Stephen Sherlock, a career Archaeologist and project collaborator, in collecting 3D scans to digitize a collection of Anglo-Saxon artifacts. These items were unearthed during excavations at Norton-on-Tees from 1984-85, and Street House, Loftus, from 2005-07.
The purpose of this project is to digitize historic artifacts, and make them accessible for all audiences internationally through the use of a web archive. Individuals are invited to gain a greater understanding of Anglo-Saxon history through Dr. Sherlock’s Archaeological finds, and access history beyond methods of traditional imagery and text.
